Iron Maidens kapellmästare släpper soloalbum

Efter 35 år som huvudsakliga låtskrivare och basist för legendariska Iron Maiden är det dags för Steve Harris att släppa något i sitt eget namn. Den 26 september i år släpps skivan British Lion via EMI.

Jon Lord förlorade kampen mot cancer

I augusti förra året kunde vi meddela att Deep Purple-organisten Jon Lord drabbats av cancer. I sitt uttalande förväntade han sig att vara i full form om ett år. Tyvärr förlorade han idag kampen mot sin cancer, och blev 71 år gammal.

"It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jon Lord, who suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism today, Monday 16th July at the London Clinic, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jon was surrounded by his loving family.Jon Lord, the legendary keyboard player with Deep Purple co-wrote many of the bands legendary songs including Smoke On The Water and played with many bands and musicians throughout his career.

Best known for his Orchestral work Concerto for Group & Orchestra first performed at Royal Albert Hall with Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969 and conducted by the renowned Malcolm Arnold, a feat repeated in 1999 when it was again performed at the Royal Albert Hall by the London Symphony Orchestra and Deep Purple.

Jon’s solo work was universally acclaimed when he eventually retired from Deep Purple in 2002.

Jon passes from Darkness to Light.

Det finska melodiska death metal/power metalbandet Children Of Bodom ställer in sin spelning ikväll på KB i Malmö på grund av sjukdom, så här säger bandet på hemsidan.

 “It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel tonight’s show in Oslo as well as tomorrow night’s show in Malmö.

Alexi was rushed to the Oslo hospital earlier this evening with extreme stomach pain. The doctors in the emergency unit checked him and while we are still waiting for a diagnosis, they made clear that he will not be able to perform within the next 48 hours.

 We apologize to all our fans who have bought tickets to these shows - we will try to reschedule both Oslo and Malmö at the earliest possibility. Keep your fingers crossed with us that Alexi will get well again soon!”

Henkka, Roope, Janne, Jaska

Geoff Tate, sångare i Queensrÿche, har blivit sparkad från bandet.

Tate ersätts utav Todd La Torne, sångare i Crimson Glory. Ett officiellt uttalande från bandet är ännu inte gjort.

Det svenska doom metal-bandet Candlemass byter från en sångare till en annan.

Robert Lowe är inte längre sångare i Candlemass, har bandet berättat. Den nya sångaren är Mats Levén. Här är bandets egna uttalande:

"We are sorry to inform you that Robert Lowe is no longer the singer for Candlemass.

It has been a very difficult decision for the band and has mainly to do with the quality of

the live performances. For the upcoming shows Robert will be replaced with Mats Levén,

longtime friend of the band. We are convinced this will work out just great. The band is

currently rehearsing new and old songs with Mats and we know that nobody attending the

gigs at Debaser Slussen, Metaltown, Borås or Southern Discomfort will be disappointed.

Bring you earplugs….it will be hard, massive and loud! Keyboard player Per Wiberg is also

joining Candlemass onstage for the live shows.

Killswitch Engage har valt att återförenas med deras ursprunglige sångare Jesse Leach.

Det var för ungefär en månad sedan som bandet tillkännagjorde att man valt att fortsätta utan sin dåvarande sångare Howard Jones. Nu har bandet funnit en ersättare, som kom att bli deras tidigare sångare Jesse Leach.

Legendariska Black Sabbath-gitarristen har fått cancer

Högaktuella Black Sabbath annonserade förra året att originaluppsättningen återförenats, och i år väntar en världsturné samt ett nytt studioalbum. Bandets gitarrist, Tony Iommi, har nu meddelat att han drabbats av Lymfom, en cancerform som drababr lymfkörtlar och lymfceller i blodet.

"With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan--the “IRON MAN” of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

This comes as Black Sabbath--Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums)--are writing and recording their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles (still set for release this fall) with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the UK to continue to work with Tony. Further information will be released as it becomes available."

Adrian Smith från Iron Maiden har nytt projekt på gång

Primal Rock Rebellion - det är namnet på Iron Maiden-gitarristen Adrian Smith's projekt. Tillsammans forne SikTh frontmannen Mikee Goodman har de nu släppt låten I See Lights som går att ladda ner kostnadsfritt via SoundCloud.

Nikki Sixx släpper två nya böcker

Nikki Sixx med stjärnstatus från Mötley Crüe och Sixx:A.M. har nu avslöjat att han kommer släppa två nya böcker. Tidigare har han släppt The Heroin Diaries och This is Gonna Hurt. Vad de kommande handlar om, eller vad de heter, har inte avslöjats, men det står klart att en bok kommer släppas runt maj/juni nästa år, och den andra under 2013.

"Neither book is like anything I have done before (I guess you can say the same thing about 'The Heroin Diaries' and 'This Is Gonna Hurt', too). I pride myself on not writing the same book over and over and also not using a ghost writer. Of course, it takes longer, but raw honesty through words is what I am driven to publish... After I get it all out on paper, I use a trusted editor to help me carve it into a palatable experience..."

Gotthard har hittat ny sångare och kommer släppa nytt studioalbum

Förra året dog Gotthards frontman Steve Lee efter en motorcykelolycka och blev endast 47 år gammal. Nu har bandet från Schweiz meddelat att de hittat en ny sångare vid namn Nic Maeder, och att bandet nästa år kommer släppa ett nytt studioalbum.
